    Description

This is a great find! The item I am selling here is an original embroidered color patch/ badge from the late 1960's early 1970's. This is a patch of the Ecology Flag. This was a popular, underground type of patch for hippies, enviromentalists, eco-warriors, etc. The Ecology symbol was made by Ron Cobb a cartoonist and was first used in October 1969. This symbol was a combination of the letters E for Environment and O for the word organism. The magazine called LOOK was instrumental in spreading the symbol and promoting the flag in the early 1970's. In the early Greenpeace boat trip to Alaska to stop bomb-testing the small fishboat that the first Greenpeace members chartered used this flag on their boat as well as a peace flag. Great historical environmental item for anyone that loves the earth now or loves the historical part of this movement. Measures approx. 3-1/2" x 2" . That is it! Not going to see too many of these over the years!
