Scarce, Original 1963 Postwar Lionel 6407 Mercury Capsule Missile Car, LN

Description

This auction is for an all original and highly desirable postwar Lionel 6407 Mercury Capsule Missile Car in Like New (C8) condition with original Sterling Plastics 529 missile and capsule. Manufactured in 1963, the red unpainted plastic flatcar has the correct 6511-2 mold mark and comes with one operating and one non-operating coupler which is correct for this piece. The flatcar shows subtle signs of wheel wear; no rust or excessive play wear. The vintage original Sterling Plastics pencil case missile comes with pencil sharpener in the capsule which is correct for this piece and no stress cracks in the blue capsule cover. The missile comes with the correct Sterling Plastics 529 data imprinted on the missile body and Mercury capsule; shows very modest signs of wear and no damage to its fragile red fins. An extremely difficult piece to find with its original missile and capsule. Carefully examine the detailed photographs provided to affirm condition and bid accordingly.
