Description
This auction is for a highly desirable and rarely seen Prewar Lionel SE-22 Neon Drumhead Dealer Service Station Sign in overall Excellent (C7) condition. Produced in 1941, the 19" diameter x 5.50" width neon electric sign was produced and distributed by the Lionel factory exclusively for authorized Lionel Service Stations and not available to the general public. When illuminated, the center and outside neon rings are chrome yellow while the "Lionel Trains" lights up royal blue. The words "Approved Service" are cut-out block letters and the original center 700E Hudson design is a translucent decal on a glass insert illuminated from the interior. The sign is completely factory original with black crackle finish and chain for hanging. Nothing on or inside the sign has been replaced or repaired; comes with its original neon tubes. What makes this piece extra special is its remarkably clean finish with only short sections missing of the interior and exterior plastic trim. Nothing cracked, repainted, scratched, or dented on the sign. Of particular interest is the decal image of a 700E Hudson locomotive; image has some issues but is still quite presentable. (See sample photo of SE-22 dealer promotion sheet, not included). Carefully examine the detailed pictures provided as they contribute to the overall description of the sign. Don't miss out on your chance to own this very special piece of Lionel history.Be sure to visit my other Lionel postwar train auctions on eBay. Shipping discounted for winners of multiple auctions.
