    Offered is an original stock certificate issued by The Lionel Corporation to Joshua Lionel Cowen's Broker, O"Neill & Co., the founder of Lionel and inventor of the Lionel toy train, and transacted on behalf of his wife Lilian.  This is not just any  JLC certificate---this is one of several which Joshua and his wife used to sell his beloved company in 1959 to an investment group headed by the notorious Roy Cohn and David Chase.  Although the stock was issued in 1957, of great importance is the fact it was sold on September 30, 1959 and is one of very few sold during this period.
    Although the certificate is
    not
    directly issued to nor signed by Cowen or Lilian, it is endorced with a Power of Attorney stamp (#6210), and an appropriate copy of documents pertaining to the sale are included---all in full color explaining the provenance.  The certificate together with the document would be a beautiful, historic addition to a train room or den when appropriately framed.  The condition is excellent with no folds, writing, etc.  The certificate has very slight storage curling which can be pressed.  Three are being offered with the only difference between each of the certificates is the certificate number and date.
    This certificate is fully guaranteed and certified to be original in all respects.
    It's a great opportunity to add a piece of history from the final weeks of Joshua Lionel Cowen's era to your collection.  It may not be the certificate issued directly to Joshua but is still very much a part of the famous sale in 1959--at a super price!  It is in pristine condition and would be an attractive conversation piece in a train room!
