    Description

Offered here are 5 vintage "Dashing Dan" commuter cocktail glasses commissioned by the Long Island Railroad in 1963.
The logo has a picture of "Dashing Dan" with the words, "The Route of the Dashing Commuter" and "The Long Island Railroad".
The glasses measure 3 1/4" high, 3" diameter on top, and 2" diameter on the bottom.
    Made by Libbey.
In 1959, the Long Island Railroad attempted to humanize itself in the eyes of the mass of commuters, and came up with the idea of Dashing Dan. Then in 1963, the LIRR invented a cocktail for the commuters, called the "Dashing Dan", which cost 95 cents--it consisted of 1.6 oz. of vodka on the rocks, triple dash of orange bitters, and a sliver of fresh orange--and you could keep the glass!
No chips or cracks or etching.
